American Water & New Jersey American Water Recognized with Award for Partnership with Hopeworks

American Water, along with New Jersey American Water were recognized by the Philadelphia Business Journal as one of the 2022 Faces of Philanthropy for making a difference through its unique and successful partnership with Camden-based Hopeworks.

Since 2015, New Jersey American Water has invested more than $1 million directly into Geographic Information Systems (GIS) internships at Hopeworks providing real-world work experience in one of the most in-demand and growing fields. Last year, the American Water Charitable Foundation and New Jersey American Water donated $35,000 to Hopeworks to support its in-house training program expansion that will help place more young adults in life-changing jobs. American Water Charitable Foundation and New Jersey American Water Donate $40,000 to Upstream Alliance

American Water Charitable Foundation Donate 40K

The American Water Charitable Foundation and New Jersey American Water donated $40,000 to Upstream Alliance in support of Search for the Cooper River expedition and film - a one-of-a-kind excursion on the Cooper River. Upstream Alliance, along with Camden County Parks and youth from Camden City embarked on a 6-day camping and kayaking expedition that began at the mouth of the Cooper River in Camden, NJ and worked its way up to the headwaters in Gibbsboro, NJ.

The Cooper River is about 16 miles long and travels through approximately 17 communities in Southern New Jersey. The river empties into the Delaware River, an important water source for residents in the Delaware Valley.

2021 Inclusion, Diversity & Equity Report

Recently, American Water published its 2021Inclusion, Diversity and Equity report as part of the company’s commitment to transparency and sharing timely information about our key diversity metrics.

The report and additional information about the company’s comprehensive ID&E strategy can be found on a new, interactive website that communicates the company’s efforts to build an inclusive workplace.

Keep Communities Flowing – American Water Charitable Foundation

The American Water Charitable Foundation announced new grant opportunities for 2022. The Keep Communities Flowing Grant Program focuses on three pillars of giving: Water, People and Communites. Within these pillars, three new grant opportunities will be available to eligible non-profit oranganization throughout the year.

The American Water Charitable Foundation is currently accepting applications for the Workforce Readiness Grant. This grant program is focused on general career readiness, financial, and business literacy, mentoring, life skills and more. Eligible organizations can apply through Septemeber 30th.

Rasheed Pollard, Supervisor of Operation

Meet Rasheed Pollard Sr., New Jersey American Water’s Supervisor of Operations. Rasheed, born and raised in Camden spending most of his time in Parkside, is excited to share his journey with American Water. He started his career 5 years ago as a Utlities Laborer for American Water’s Contract Services Group, transferred to Virginia American Water and landed back in his home state as a Supervisor of Operations. Rasheed is a huge advocate for giving back and that commitment is reflected in his 9 years of coaching football for the Camden High Panthers, as well as, volunteering around the city any chance he gets.
