YOUR WATER RATES
Virginia American Water's service rates are based on the real costs of treating and delivering water to customers, and are regulated by the Virginia State Corporation Commission (SCC).
To determine rates, we work with the SCC staff to study costs of construction, maintenance, operation, administration and financing. Once the studies are complete, the company and the SCC present any differing conclusions before an administrative law judge. Based on the judge’s opinion, the SCC sets the water rates.

1 de abril de 2019: New Rates in Effect May 1 for Virginia American Water Customers
Virginia American Water interim water and wastewater rates will be implemented on 1 de mayo de 2019 for residential, commercial and industrial customers. The interim rates will remain in place until the State Corporation Commission (SCC) issues its final rate order after a thorough public review, which could take several months. The company will issue credits with interest to all customers if rates determined by the SCC’s final order are lower than the rates Virginia American Water requested in its application and is implementing on 1 de mayo de 2019.
“Even with the new interim rates, the proposed cost of water service in all Virginia American Water districts is lower than most other household utility bills – an exceptional value,” said Barry Suits, president, Virginia American Water. Read more from the news release.
