Illinois American Water Lifts Boil Water Order for City of Farmington

Farmington, Ill.  (April 3, 2021) — Illinois American Water has lifted the boil water order issued to Farmington customers on Thursday, April 1, 2021. Customers can resume normal water usage.

During the boil water order, a series of water quality tests were performed to confirm drinking water met regulatory drinking water standards. Samples were taken from sites in the affected area and tests confirmed the water meets all state and federal requirements. It is no longer necessary for customers to boil their water before drinking or cooking.

Customers are being notified of the boil water order lift via media outreach, website updates at www.illinoisamwater.com and Illinois American Water’s customer notification system which contacts customers via phone, phone and text, or email based on customer preferences.  Customers can access Illinois American Water’s online alerts at https://amwater.com/ilaw/alerts.

Customers are encouraged to keep their contact information updated by logging on to the company’s web self‐service portal at www.amwater.com to enter their contact information and preferences.  Customers who do not have Internet access can contact the customer service center at 800-422-2782 to update their contact information.
