American Water Employees & American Water Charitable Foundation Donate $25,000 to Camden-Based LUCY Outreach

CAMDEN, N.J.
CAMDEN, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--American
Water (NYSE: AWK), the largest publicly traded U.S. water and
wastewater utility company, and the American Water Charitable Foundation
(AWCF), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization created by American Water,
donated $25,000 to LUCY Outreach, a Camden-based organization that
provides services to underserved Camden County youth and young adults,
ages 12 – 25, and their families.
With American Water’s move to Camden, employees were given the
opportunity to make a monetary donation in return for desktop equipment
from their existing offices. The employees overwhelming response
generated $12,500 for LUCY Outreach, and the AWCF matched those
donations.
“American Water employees truly have big hearts when it comes to helping
and giving to others,” said Aldie Warnock, Senior Vice President of
External Affairs and Business Development and AWCF Foundation Chairman.
“With our headquarters now in Camden, we are excited to show our support
of the local community and continue our commitment to Camden’s future.
LUCY Outreach has been a partner from day one and we are happy to
contribute to the youth and families of this incredible organization.”
In addition to the donation, during the month of September, more than
100 American Water employees volunteered countless hours at LUCY
Outreach, from painting and cleaning to gardening and decorating youth
rooms.
“This relationship with American Water over the past year has been so
special,” said Kristin Prinn Rose, executive director of LUCY Outreach.
“The employees have become part of the LUCY family and connected with us
on a personal level. There’s something so unique about this company and
its leadership. From service days to starting a career closet, a holiday
drive, a community garden, wish lists for our new building, and a
surprise employee match donation. We’re excited to have them in Camden
and know that they’ll be active, present and caring neighbors for our
LUCY youth and families.”
