Reducing your service charges based on Meter size

When construction is complete and you are ready to move in, call our customer service center at 888 237-1333 and let them know you’d like to convert your account to the Residential Fire Protection Service charge for a smaller meter.  We will provide handling instructions to our call center employees to help ensure a smooth process.  Residential customers are allowed to request that their monthly service charge be modified to a lower rate based upon their previous, smaller meter size.

This offer is available to customers who had to upsize their meter in order to meet local fire ordinances that mandated the installation of larger residential meters AND the new Residential Fire Protection Service surcharge following the area’s devastating fires.

Both the meter charge and RFPS surcharge are based on the home’s meter size.

Affected customers can request a reduction in the meter and RFPS service charges by recalculating them based on the home’s previous smaller meter size.

This only applies to customers who were required to upsize their meter for fire sprinkler service.

Ex: Most homes in Larkfield were served by 5/8-inch meters in the past. So, this adjustment would take the current meter and RFPS charges and base them on 5/8-inch meter instead of the new larger meter size –  reducing the total charge. The current conversion for a 1.5” meter would be from $80 per month to about 23 dollars.

How do I apply for this adjustment?
